Five decades of authentic raspberry spirit
In 1976, Alois Unterthurner achieved what was long considered nearly impossible: preserving the full, delicate aroma of fresh raspberries permanently in alcohol. At a time when most distillers relied on the proven Williams pear, Alois and Christine consciously chose a different path. Thus, Waldler® Original was born.
It soon became clear how right that decision was. The clear, unadulterated raspberry character impressed not only connoisseurs from the region. German holidaymakers discovered Waldler® Original in Marling, flocked to the small shop on the ground floor of Ansitz Priami, and wanted to take their favourite raspberry spirit home with them. Christine Unterthurner played a defining role during this period: she personally welcomed guests, shared the story behind the product and laid the foundation for the first export ventures.
What began with artisanal courage, patience and a sure instinct grew into a classic of Alpine spirits culture. Gently distilled in a water bath and given ample time to mature, Waldler® Original still stands today for flavour, quality and authenticity.
Today, the family business is run by the third generation, led by Stephan Unterthurner. Over the years, fine variations have evolved from the original: Waldler Selection, Waldler Barrique and Waldler Fee. Each with its own signature, all deeply rooted in the origin.
In 2026, we celebrate 50 years of Waldler® Original. Five decades of pioneering spirit, passion and love for the raspberry. And a story that proves that true quality is timeless.
