Pinot Noir Riserva – Aged for three years, a grappa full of elegance
Some grappas need time to fully develop their character. Our Pinot Noir Riserva is one of them. It ages for three years in select oak barrels that previously held Unterthurner Rum. The result is a grappa of extraordinary depth that combines the elegance of Pinot Noir with subtle barrel notes.
The foundation of the Unterthurner Pinot Noir Riserva is made up of single-varietal pomace from the noble Pinot Noir grape variety, sourced from the Muri-Gries Monastery Winery in Bolzano. Immediately upon delivery, master distiller Andreas gently distills it in our copper still using the discontinuous water bath method. This is followed by a three-year aging period in wooden barrels that previously held rum—the final step on the path to an exceptional grappa.
The bouquet reveals fresh grassy notes, delicate hints of apple, and subtle toasted aromas. On the palate, elegant hints of rum and vanilla unfold, supported by a soft, harmonious structure and a long finish.
Our serving suggestion: Let the Pinot Noir Riserva breathe in the glass for a few minutes to allow its aromas to fully develop. Served at room temperature, it pairs just as harmoniously with creamy desserts as it does with the quiet conclusion of a special evening.
